Lower Bucks Co. Warehouse Closure to Cause 147 to be Laid Off

The massive Kmart-Sears warehouse located in Fairless Hills’ is closing its doors this September, taking 147 jobs with it,

Transform Warehouse Operations (TWO) LLC, which operates  the Kresge Road warehouse, told the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry that the warehouse will shut down as of Sept. 16.

The Fairless Hills site is more than 1.9 million square feet on 96.2 acres, making it the largest of TWO’s four distribution centers nationwide.

The slow death of  Kmart, once a fixture in nearly every American town, which now operates one single brick-and-mortar store in the  suburbs of Miami suburbs apparently is on its last breaths.

In 1982, the warehouse was engulfed by a blaze that drew more than 300 firefighters and caused over $110 million in damage, according to the Burlington County Times 

Kmart later rebuilt the facility at double its original size, reopening in 1984 as a symbol of the brand’s staying power, which no longer exists.
