A Bristol Borough man has been charged with criminal homicide and related offenses after strangling his wife to death with his ties inside their Wood Street home early Thursday morning, hours after he was cleared to leave a behavioral health facility, according to authorities.
On-call District Judge Brian M. Marriott video arraigned Michael P. Myers, who will turn 60 next week, on charges of murder, strangulation, aggravated assault, intimidation of a witness/victim, false imprisonment, and related offenses early Friday morning in the strangling of his wife Dawn on Wood St Thursday morning.
Myers was denied bail automatically due to the homicide charge and has no attorney of record listed.

Bristol Borough Police officers responded to 1305 Wood Street around 6:28 a.m., according to the probable cause for a report of a possible deceased person. Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim’s son who reported that he had found his 54 year old mother dead in a second floor bedroom.
Responding officers conducted a sweep of the home and located Dawn Myers lying on the bedroom floor with multiple men’s neckties wrapped around her neck, police said in court records.

According to the criminal complaint, police noted security footage from the home showed no entry or exit between the evening of August 12 and 6:02 a.m. of August 13, when Myers was seen exiting the front door, locking it behind him, and entering a parked vehicle outside.
Investigators contacted representatives from First Response Alarm who were able to narrow down the movements within the Wood St home through the seven-zone alarm system. A zone alarm is triggered when movement is picked up by the system.

The alarm has two modes, a stay mode and an away mode. When the “stay” mode is in use all perimeter alarms are set, including the exterior doors of the residence. In “away” mode, all perimeter alarms (doors) as well as the interior motion alarms are activated, investigators noted in the probable cause.
When using the alarm system, police said, a user has the ability to place the alarm system in away mode and stay inside as long as they do not enter the areas that have the motion sensors/alarms.
The murder according to the in-home security system
According to the criminal complaint, the alarm company administrator received an alarm on August 13, 2026, from the Zone 4 (living room) motion sensor motion alarm at 6:02 a.m.
The administrator stated the company’s dispatcher texted the victim and then Myers on their respective cell phones on file.Due to the lack of response, the alarm company sent an additional notification at 6:02 a.m.
At 6:03 a.m., the dispatcher called the location, police, and then the next emergency contacts on a list that is on file.
At 6:03 a.m., the dispatcher left a message on the victim’s cell phone.
At 6:05 a.m., the dispatcher called and left a message on Myer’s cell phone.
At 6:06 a.m., the dispatcher called the Bristol Borough Police Department and spoke to their dispatcher at 6:07 a.m.
At 6:08 a.m.,the dispatcher cleared the alarm.
At 6:09 a.m., there was a note, “Hands off”.
At 6:09 a.m. there was an additional Zone 4 alarm (living room) activation.
At 6:09 a.m. and 6:10 a.m., the alarm company left a voice message for Brendan Murray and Breanna Myers.
At 6:10 a.m., the Zone 4 motion alarm went off again. At 6:11 a.m., the dispatcher verified the address and sent an alarm ticket to the alarm email.
The alarm company official told investigators that no additional alarms were set off in the house. All alarms would have to be turned off at that time to prevent additional alarms/zones being set off or if no one was moving in the armed areas.
Meyers Seen Outside Home Around 6 am
According to the criminal complaint, a witness saw Myers outside the home shortly after 6:00 a.m., however there was no alarm set off from any of the perimeter alarms. This means, police said, the alarm system would have been turned off prior to Myers exiting the residence.
Dawn was last seen on recorded Ring footage from the back camera at 6:41 p.m Wednesday when she let the dogs out in the backyard where at least one remained until police arrived on scene 12 hours later.
Myers was detained by police at the scene with visible injuries, including scratches and abrasions to his face, arms, and back, court records show.
Myers Had Had Mental Health Issues
As reported Thursday, Myers had previously been in and out of an unidentified behavioral health facility while on self-harm watch.
Dawn told her son that Myers was in the hospital on Tuesday after making threats to commit suicide and then released on Wednesday around 2:00 p.m. Meyers was considered a low threat for harm, the son said his mother told him and was released, according to court records.
Investigators did not detail Meyers’ motive for killing his wife, in the probable cause, nor document anything with regards to medications he might have been taking manage his self-destructive thoughts and feelings.
