GIANT Company, announced flu and pneumonia vaccinations are now available at all in-store pharmacies.
“Flu season is just around the corner, and an annual vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to help protect you and your family,” said Nick Koch, director of pharmacy and wellbeing, The GIANT Company. “As the flu virus changes, vaccinations are reformulated every year, which is why it’s recommended to get a flu shot annually. It can take up to two weeks for the body to develop an immune response following vaccination, so now is the time to take steps to prepare to fight the flu by visiting your local GIANT or MARTIN’S pharmacy.”
With more than 130 locations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, receiving a flu shot at GIANT pharmacies is easy and convenient. Walk-ins are welcome but customers can also make an appointment if they prefer. Most insurance plans, including Medicare Part B, cover recommended flu vaccinations with little or no out-of-pocket cost.* In addition, starting Aug. 30, customers who receive an eligible flu vaccination, and present their GIANT card, will receive an offer for $10 off a future grocery purchase, subject to program terms and conditions.**
Historically, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual influenza vaccinations for everyone six months and older, ideally by the end of October. Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at increased risk of serious flu-related complications, incluhttp://www.giantfoodstores.com/ding adults 65 and older, pregnant women, and people with certain chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, or heart and lung disease. Customers should speak with their pharmacist or healthcare provider about vaccines that may be appropriate for them.
GIANT pharmacies also offer more than a dozen vaccinations including the MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella), Covid-19 and pneumococcal vaccinations. Available vaccinations and eligibility ages vary by location and are subject to state regulations.
