A local tradition returned to Bristol Borough last week with the popular St. Ann’s Carnival and Italian Festival.
The six-day, five-night event attracted huge crowds to the St. Ann’s Catholic Worship Site at 357 Dorrance Street. With summer coming to an end, the carnival featured carnival rides, children’s amusements, games, and homemade Italian dishes including pizza fritta.
Bristol Borough Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said the festival supports the church and the kids at St. Mark’s School while offering plenty of fun for the community.
DiGuiseppe was ever so grateful to Ernie DeCaro of Bristol Environmental who absorbed all the costs for “Kids Night at the Carnival.”

About 400 kids received wrist bands that covered their entry and included free food, DiGuiseppe said.
There was some last minute haggling between the Carnival and company that puts on the carnival, officials said, which could have impacted “Kids Night.” However, DiGuiseppe said, everything worked out for the best in the end.

DeCaro has supported Kids Night for at least the past seven years. Whule he politely declined to comment on the last minute behind the scenes machinations, he did tell Lower Bucks Source why he felt it’s important to support Kids Night at the Carnival.
