Bristol Township Police allege a couple could not provide a credible explanation for injuries to a newborn that include a fractured right leg.
Amanda Young 32, and Rakeem Fielder, 30, both of Bristol, have been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and simple assault.
Young was arraigned on the charges by District Judge Joanne V. Kline Wednesday afternoon and remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility after the judge set bail at 10 percent of $25,000.
Fielder, according to court records, remains at large as of publication time.
According to the probable cause, on March 13, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Bristol Township Detective was assigned to investigate a report of a newborn being treated at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children , in Philadelphia, for a leg fracture and other injuries.
The infant’s injuries occurred at the 920 Center Avenue home that Young and Fielder share, police said.
The infant was seen by her pediatrician on Feb. 20 and Feb. 27, 2025, with no noted injuries, investigators said in court records.
On or about March 5, 2025, bruising appeared around the infant’s left eye and cheek. Despite the pediatrician’s telephonic advice to take her to the emergency room, neither parent sought emergency medical treatment. Instead, they ordered bruise ointment via DoorDash, the probable cause alleges.
Court documents allege that on or about March 11, 2025, additional bruising was observed on the infant’s abdomen, thigh, and back. Despite these new injuries, neither parent sought immediate medical attention, electing to wait for a previously scheduled pediatrician appointment two days later.
On March 13, 2025, the newborn was brought to her scheduled routine pediatrician appointment. The examining physician directed the parents to immediately take the infant to a pediatric hospital emergency room. The parents complied and the newborn was admitted to St Christopher’s.
A physical examination revealed bruising to the right back, left cheek, right thigh, left abdomen: Subconjunctival hemorrhage to the left eye; and a fracture of the right tibia.
That same day police interviewed Young. She told police, according to the probable cause, that on March 5, 2025, her daughter woke up with what appeared to be a bruised left eye and cheek. She contacted her pediatrician who advised taking her to the hospital, but they did not go.

She continued that on March 11, 2025, the newborn woke up with bruising on her stomach, thigh, and back side areas and despite these new injuries, Young and Fielder decided to wait for the scheduled pediatrician appointment two days later rather than seek immediate medical attention.
Young, according to police, said she and Fielder perform repetitive bicycle motions with her infant daughter’s legs to promote bowel movement due to constipation. She maintained that she, Fielder, and her infant daughter have been home together since the child’s birth.
Police interviewed Fielder the following day. The newborn’s father said he and Young have been home together since his daughter’s birth. He first noticed bruising on the infant’s face on or about March 4, 2025, but despite being told to go to the ER, they did not go because they didn’t have a vehicle. He noticed bruising on his daughter’s abdomen, back, and leg approximately two days before the March 13th pediatrician visit.
Fielder confirmed the infant has been constipated and he alone performs bicycle exercises with her legs to promote bowel movements, approximately four to five times total.
Fielder said, according to police, that he and Young have been with their daughter the entire time and no one else provided any kind of care or was in contact with the infant.
On April 4, 2025, doctors confirmed the fractures, also known as shear fractures, which are usually caused by a pulling or yanking motion, according to court records.
On April 16, 2025, police, along with several other multi–disciplinary team members, conversed with St. Christopher’s medical personnel who said that the injuries to the newborn girl are consistent with trauma and/or abuse, the probable cause alleges.
Police said in the criminal complaint that Young and Fielder had custody of and exclusive access to their newborn daughter when the injuries were sustained and provided no credible explanation for the injuries.
