Langhorne Man Jailed in Apparent Road Rage Incident at Levittown Walmart Parking Lot

A Langhorne man is in jail after an apparent road rage incident became in which the suspect yanked the victim out of his car in the Walmart shopping center parking lot last Friday

Tullytown Borough Police were dispatched to St. Mikes church parking lot, Friday September 4 for a reported physical altercation between two males. 

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim,, who was actively bleeding from his nose and mouth, according to the criminal complaint. 

In addition, police said, his right eye was swollen,  and he appeared shaken and disheveled. EMS responded to the scene to evaluate the victim, but he declined medical treatment.

The victim reported that prior to the physical altercation, he was operating his vehicle in the area of the Walmart parking lot near Levittown Parkway. He told officers he honked his horn at the operator of a white Ford truck after the traffic light changed to green and the vehicle in front of him failed to proceed. The operator of the white Ford truck was later Identified as Tyler Starrett, 31. 

The victim said that Starrett became enraged and followed him as he traveled along Levittown Parkway toward Route 13. The victim turned southbound onto Route 13 and subsequently turned back into the Walmart shopping center in an attempt to get away from Starrett. Starrett continued following him through the Walmart parking lot and surrounding shopping center. During this incident, a collision occurred between the two vehicles, the criminal complaint alleges. 

Starrett, police said, followed the victim into the parking lot of St. Mike’s. Starrett exited his vehicle and approached the victims’ vehicle, who’s  driver’s side window was open. The victim retrieved a baseball bat from inside his vehicle and told Starrett to stay away from him. As Starrett continued approaching the vehicle, Starrett began striking the victim  through the open driver side window.

A physical struggle over the baseball bat then occurred, resulting in the bat falling outside the vehicle. Starrett yanked  the victim from his vehicle while punching him repeatedly in the face and head.

Police subsequently obtained video surveillance depicting the physical altercation. The video shows Starrett approaching the victim, engaging in the confrontation, and repeatedly striking him. The video is consistent with the victim’s account of the assault. 

The video surveillance also depicted the vehicles and showing Starrett operating his vehicle in a manner consistent with attempting to force the victim’s vehicle from the roadway, police said. 

Two witnesses who responded to the scene provided written statements regarding the physical altercation to police. 

Starrett was arraigned by on-call District Judge Stacy Wertman on aggravated assault, two charges of simple assault, and related offenses remanding him to the custody of Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $200,000.00 bail. He is due back in court on September 22 to answer to the chagres.
