Throughout September, the Bensalem Township Police Department participated in Back-to-School Nights at Bensalem High School, Shafer Middle School, and Snyder Middle School, showcasing our “Behind Closed Doors” trailer.
“Behind Closed Doors” is a simulated child’s bedroom designed to provide police officers with an interactive way to educate parents and guardians about current trends affecting adolescents. The program addresses issues such as substance abuse, mental health concerns, abusive relationships, and other at-risk adolescent behaviors.
This hands-on experience allows parents and guardians to step into realistic scenarios, recognize early warning signs and behavioral changes, and develop effective conversation points and intervention strategies. The goal is to increase parental awareness, encourage early communication, and provide families with the knowledge and resources necessary to address potential concerns before they escalate.
These events reflect the strong partnership between the Bensalem Twp. School District and the Bensalem Twp. Police Department. Through open communication, education, and collaboration, we work together to support students and families and keep our schools and community safe.
