Charlie Dearnley, Bristol Township’s public works director, said the crews deserve the temporary hike.

Since Dearnley took over the department, the issue of pay discrepancies has been raised, pointing out township public works employees are paid 30 to 40 percent less other area municipalities.

“The crew has always been outstanding, but under Charlie’s guide and leadership, the quality of workmanship and happiness of the crew has been above and beyond,” she said.

Council commended the department and crew for their work.

A letter from the department to council and administration thanked them for the pay raise and said it will help with moral  and the work performed.

Elton said Dearnley has been leading the department for less than a year and has changed the moral under his of the crew under his  direction.

The department maintains township parks and properties, and maintains 173 miles of township roadways.
