Suspected Bristol Carjacker Waives Preliminary Hearing, Charged for Tullytown Burglary

Update: An arrest warrant was filed on Aug. 25, 2022, charging Kevin O’Connell in a May 27, 2022 burglary in Tullytown Borough. A police investigation found that O’Connell entered the garage of a home on Stonybrook Drive in the early hours that morning and stole $5,000 in tools and household items. He faces felony counts of burglary, criminal trespassing, theft and receiving stolen property, and a misdemeanor count of loitering or prowling at night. The man who carjacked an 83 year-old woman in August and was subsequently charged for a second carjacking in Bristol Township waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday, while additional cases have been filed against him in other localities.

Kevin O’Connell 40 through his public defender waived his right to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Bristol Borough District Court.

He is accused of committing two car jackings in the Bristol area.

The incident that led police to charge him occurred in August when he allegedly threatened a senior with a hypodermic syringe because she refused to give him money.

According to eyewitness accounts O’Connell threw the woman out of her blue Toyota Camry.

The following morning Philadelphia Police located the victim’s Camry in Philadelphia, with two persons of interest in it, who were taken into custody. The victim identified the suspect from her hospital bed days later when she was shown a photo array, police said.

O’Connell was subsequently tied through DNA  to a carjacking in Bristol Township in March of this year also by investigators.

While in Bucks County Jail two unrelated cases were filed against O’Connell in Bensalem and Bristol Township for theft related offenses. Those cases are scheduled for hearings in December and January.

O’Connell remains in jail and is scheduled to appear for at the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in December.

At last check the 83 year-old senior who sustained serious injuries was released from the hospital and is recovering with her family in Bensalem, officials said.
