The Department of Human Services (DHS) is issuing an alert of a possible scam targeting those receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
The scam involves an email from a “experience@travelfoodstampassistanceforyou.com” address and implies that SNAP recipients may be eligible for a “settlement payment” if they fill out their personal payment information. The Department of Human Services (DHS) informs everyone that this is a scam.
DHS does send informational text messages and phone calls to people who receive benefits from the number 1-833-648-1964 but will never ask for personal information.
If you receive a suspicious call, email, text asking about your benefits or for your financial information, contact the DHS fraud tip line at 1-844-DHS-TIPS (1-844-347-8477) immediately.
