It was just after 10:20 a.m. when the ground, homes, and businesses stated to rattle and roll as an earthquake hitting 4.9 on Richter scale rolled through New Jersey, Philadelphia and its suburbs Friday morning.
The ground shook for about six seconds or at least that’s what it felt like, in Doylestown, and some commenters said the quake lasted about 30 seconds in the Levittown area.
The United States Geological Society (U.S.G.S.) said the quake originated and was reported three miles outside of Lebanon, New Jersey, measuring at 4.8.
Bristolian Veronica Davidson, said a local electrician was on a ladder hanging new wires on her house when the rumbling hit.
“At first I thought it was him until I heard my dishes rattling. He was freaking out on the ladder and got off there asap,” she said.
Maryann Pickard was food shopping at Acme on New Falls Road when the quake happened, she said, spaghetti jars were shaking.
A friend of the publication who works in Bucks County and lives in Lehigh said he felt the quake come through, adding that a buddy of his living in New York City said he felt the ground movement, too.
In Bucks County, no injuries were reported or damage to property. The same was not true for certain areas in New Jersey where property was reported and no injuries of which we are aware.
