Details of the investigation into last week’s carjacking in Warminster Township that ended in Bensalem with the arrest of one suspect, were released Tuesday by investigators.
According to Warminster authorities, last Tuesday at around 2 p.m., on the 200 block of east County Line Road upon arrival on scene, the victim said, they were sitting inside the business, when two males entered the store wearing all black clothes and black face masks. One male lifted his hoodie style shirt and displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded the keys to the victim’s orange Dodge pickup truck. The victim turned over the keys to the truck, with the second male robbing her of a cell phone. Both males fled the store taking the truck and a black Dodge Challenger and speeding east on County Line Road.
The description of the suspects and their vehicles was broadcasted county wide, police said.
A short time later, Upper Southampton Police observed the vehicles and both vehicles fled through Upper Southampton, into Lower Southampton and finally into Bensalem, where the black Dodge Challenger crashed. The occupant of the Challenger was taken into custody with no further incident, while the orange Dodge pickup fled into the city of Philadelphia, police said.
The suspect, Reynaldo Almanzar Rodriguez 18 of Philadelphia was charged with Robbery of a Motor Vehicle, Simple Assault, RSP, PIC, and Terroristic Threats According to police, Rodriguez admitted his role in the robbery.
The suspect told police there were two other suspects with him. Additionally, the gun toting suspect fled in the orange Dodge pickup truck into Philadelphia. Two other suspects fled on foot in Bensalem blocks away from where he (Rodriguez) was arrested in the area of Eddington and Brown roads. Those suspects remain at large.
