A Morrisville Giant Company employee tested positive for the Coronavirus, Lower Bucks Source learned on Monday from multiple sources who asked not to be identified.

Employees of the supermarket, located on West Trenton Avenue, began receiving notifications from store management over the last 24 hours. through various forms of communication about the confirmed case as a “COVID-19 Alert.”

“I wanted you to hear it from me directly that one of our team members has tested positive for COVID-19. We continue to focused on keeping you, our customers and our vendors safe. Our location has since undergone deep cleaning and sanitization following,” state and federal protocols the communication said.

The anonymous sources voiced concerns about Giant’s response on Monday to the positive test report saying more needed to be done to protect the public and employees.

“Why aren’t they shutting down to protect the community” one of the two sources said, disturbed by the prospect of contracting the virus that has infected more than 4,250 Bucks residents so far.

A second source said not enough “wipe downs” are happening in the supermarket and they have seen shoppers taking their masks off.

“Nothing is said to them. If you try to enter the store with no mask on, you’re stopped. But who is watching customers after they come in?”

The notification went on to say “…we care deeply about your well being, so we ask that you please monitor your health and consult your health care provider immediately if you have any medical concerns.”

The Giant Company since the pandemic swept through the area has created special shopping hours for seniors and those immune compromised, donated to a number of food banks, and sought to hire many workers laid off from other jobs since the beginning of the virus’ spread.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said there is no evidence to support transmission of the virus with food or packaging.
