Newtown Twp. Police Reports – Nov 1, 2024 – Nov 14, 2024

11/1/24 -As a result of the investigation into an overnight theft of an ATV that occurred in Wrightstown on October 12, 2024, a criminal complaint was filed against one male subject for Receiving Stolen Property, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Loitering and Prowling at Night. Two other male subjects were also arrested last month in connection to the incident.

11/4/24 – **Scam Alert** Police were dispatched to Wells Fargo Bank on South Eagle Road shortly before noon for the report of fraud. The bank manager explained that a customer on scene was being threatened by a caller to withdraw money from his account. The customer reported receiving phone calls from people posing as Homeland Security and the DEA, claiming to have a warrant for his arrest as a result of a drug investigation. They instructed him to withdraw $5,000 from each of his accounts and to place the money in a secure locker. Fortunately, there was no monetary loss because the customer sought help when he arrived at the bank.

11/4/24 – At approximately 12:30 pm police were dispatched to Organnon’s Natural Market on Durham Road in Wrightstown Township for the report of a retail theft that occurred the day prior. The total value of loss was approximately $12.

11/4/24 – **Scam Alert** A Newtown Township resident contacted police at 12:45 pm to report a scam. The resident related that she Googled customer support for assistance in downloading an app to her phone and called (877) 998-5724. The person she spoke to had her download two apps and gained remote access to her phone. They then accessed her Venmo and transferred $200 to a random account. At that point, she recognized it was a scam and reported the incident to Venmo, her bank, and us.

11/5/24 – At 9:05 am a representative of Lukoil on South Sycamore Street contacted police to report a fraud involving two males purchasing multiple cartons of cigarettes. The payment was later flagged and declined, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

11/5/24 – **Scam Alert** Police were dispatched to First National Bank on Newtown Yardley Road shortly before 1:00 pm for a reported fraud in progress. An elderly female was inside the bank being scammed over the phone. After receiving an email seemingly from “LifeLock”, regarding a problem with her computer, she called the listed phone number and provided remote access to her system. She was then convinced to access her bank accounts and move funds into a specific account. The scammer set up an Uber account in the resident’s name and arranged her a ride to the bank to withdraw the funds. The bank and police were able to assist the female in closing her accounts and contacting her family so she didn’t lose any money and got home safely.

11/7/24 – While on routine patrol shortly before 2:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop on a GMC Envoy operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence, and the sole male operator was arrested in connection.

11/8/24 – At approximately 2:30 am police conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Tundra operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

11/9/24 – Around noon police were dispatched to the area of Lower Dolington Road for the theft of a Verizon fiber optic cable that occurred overnight. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

11/12/24 – At approximately 3:30 am police conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Civic operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road. As a result of the investigation, one female subject was taken into custody without incident on active arrest warrants from Bucks County Probation and Philadelphia County Probation. Suspected narcotics were also discovered and seized as evidence and narcotic and false I.D. to law enforcement charges are pending.

11/12/24 – Shortly before 10:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford pick-up truck operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Sycamore Street. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence, and charges are pending.

11/13/24 – A Newtown Township resident responded to headquarters at 3:35 pm to report a fraud involving false pretenses. The total value of loss was $4,000, and the investigation is ongoing.

11/14/24 – Police were dispatched for the report of a commercial burglary in Wrightstown Township around 8:30 am. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
