Representatives for YMCA of Bucks County gained approval for a scaled down version of their plans for the Fairless Hill site at last week’s Bristol Township Council meeting.
The new plans call for a shrinking of the original plans of 52,785 square feet to a 42,000 square feet structure on South Oxford Valley Road. The new plan also calls for revamping what remains and adding a new entrance-way to the project which was originally announced last year for the Bristol Twp.site.
Higher than expected costs means the 4,000 square foot child care center is being cut from the plan, representatives said at Thursday’s meeting.
YMCA officials did say the new plans also included upgrades for parking and circulation throughout the complex when the work is completed.
The Fairless Hill location serves about 6000 members. The new plans would speed up completion of the project. The project was originally scheduled to take about 18 months to two years, but will be finished within a year’s time, officials said in release earlier this month
The Fairless Hills overhaul along with upgrades to the Doylestown location, officials said, would cost about $15 million with a majority of the funds spent on the Bristol Township location.
