The Bucks County Justice Center was deemed safe and was reopened to the public and staff following a temporary evacuation Wednesday afternoon due to a suspicious envelope left at the Sheriff’s office, officials said.
At about 12:30 p.m., a woman walked into the second level of the basement and dropped off an envelope at the Sheriff’s Office. People in the office could tell there was something inside that was potentially dangerous, officials said.
First responders reacted promptly to assess the situation. Following a thorough review and investigation by Bucks County Detectives, authorities determined there was no credible threat. All visitors and employees were safely evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure.

After approximately 90 minutes, at 2:00 p.m., the all-clear was given, and normal operations at the Justice Center resumed.
Out of an abundance of caution, a situation arose at approximately 12:30 p.m. that prompted the implementation of evacuation protocols at the Bucks County Justice Center. All visitors and employees were safely evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure.
Officials did not reveal the contents of the package as of Wednesday night.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
