A Spring food drive supporting seven local organization providing food relief as Shir Ami collected over 7,000 pounds of food and donated the much needed eats to local agencies that support families facing food insecurity.
Shir Ami, the heart of Reform Judaism in Bucks County, is pleased to announce that their Spring Food Drive collected 7031 pounds of nonperishable food and personal hygiene items. During the month of May, congregants and volunteers worked together to sort, label, weigh, and distribute donations to local agencies that provide vital support to families in need.
This food drive is especially important since summer is fast approaching and the summer months can be a difficult time for those experiencing food insecurity. Donations to local food banks decrease in the summer and school isn’t in session, which means children don’t have access to free lunches, posing a greater strain on the budgets of families in need.
“Our community answered the call—and then some,” said Marc Luber, President, Shir Ami. “They helped us gather an incredible amount of food for local food banks. We’re not only helping to feed families; we’re building a network of care and support that makes Bucks County stronger.”

Shir Ami partnered with seven local food banks and outreach organizations to distribute donations, including Bristol Borough Community Action Group, Emergency Relief Association (ERA), Morrisville Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, Penndel Food Pantry, Jesus Focus Ministries, Warminster Food Bank, and InterFaith Food Alliance (IFA). These groups received much-needed food supplies to support families experiencing food insecurity.
Shir Ami’s Food Bank welcomes continued community support. Those interested in volunteering or making donations can visit shirami.org for more information. Every contribution—whether food, funds, or time—strengthens the fight against hunger and builds a stronger, more connected community.
Reform synagogue Shir Ami, located in Newtown, PA, traces its history to 1976 when several Jewish families in Richboro gathered to discuss the formation of a new congregation. Shir Ami endeavors to continue Reform traditions in Bucks County while creating new ones. It strives to be:
