A 38 year-old Yardley woman with a reported history of harassing her neighbor, escalated matters over the weekend were her alleged ire was directed at responding police officers, leading to felony charges of assaulting police officers and related offenses.
On July 20, 2025 at 11:14 a.m., Lower Makefield Township Police were dispatched to a residence on the 20 block of Delaware Rim Drive for an initial report of a civil problem involving a woman known to police. Officers arrived on scene and made initial contact with the complainant who reported that he had a verbal dispute with his neighbor, Ashley Bindewald, and recorded the incident on his cell phone, said police in the probable cause affidavit.
The neighbor reported previous incidents with Bindewald and that she had been warned by numerous Lower Makefield Township police officers, according to the criminal complaint, to cease communication with her neighbor.
The neighbor then provided police video footage of the incident, in which Bindewald can be observed sitting on her truck and be heard saying “I Love You” to the complainant. He responded to Bindewald by stating “Please stop harassing my family,” before Bindewald responded by saying “Why do you keep calling the cops?”, the probable cause alleges.
Officers spoke to Bindewald, informing her the nature of the contact was reported that she was harassing her neighbor and his son while sitting on top of a truck parked in her driveway. Bindewald was reluctant to speak with this officer when asked about the incident. Police attempted to explain to Bindewald that she has been warned multiple times to not speak to her neighbors, but Bindewald continued interrupting the responding officer and continued to yell at the officer about other issues superfluous to this incident, officers alleged in court papers.
While speaking with Bindewald, she was unable to maintain focus on the incident and kept stating that her neighbor has been stalking her, said police.
Bindewald, allegedly, then proceeded to yell at the neighbor in the officer’s presence. At this time, Bindewald was informed that she would be cited for a non-traffic citation for disorderly conduct. Bindewald’s demeanor began to become more volatile towards the neighbor, and yelling obscenities towards him.
Due to Bindewald’s demeanor and physical condition, receiving multiple warnings to stop harassing the man, and the physical inconvenience to the other residents, Bindewald was placed under arrest, with handcuffs locked and placed behind her back at 11:45 a.m. the probable cause says.
While attempting to affect an arrest, Bindewald actively and passively resisted arrest, and began to kick the arresting officers. While attempting to place handcuffs on Bindewald, she kicked an officer in the abdomen, used her teeth to bite another officer on the hand, and spat on a corporal, before being taken into custody. Bindewald continued to scream obscenities and spit officers and a spit guard mask was placed on her face. Bindewald was placed in the back seat of marked police vehicle and transported back to Police Headquarters. Bindewald was taken out of the vehicle and placed in the secured detention area to be evaluated by EMS, according to court records.
Yardley Makefield Emergency Services Squad M100 arrived on scene and attempted to conduct a medical evaluations on Bindewald. Due to her volatile demeanor and aggressive behavior towards the medics, Bindewald refused any medical services. She was fingerprinted and processed without additional incident.
On-call District Judge Joseph P. Falcone arraigned Bindenwald on three felony counts of assaulting a police officer, and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct (2) and related offenses. She was originally remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility, posting the required 10 percent of $70,000.00 the following day, according to online court records and was subsequently released. She is due back in court on July 29 for a preliminary hearing.
According to online court records about two weeks prior to this incident Lower Makefield Twp Police charged Bindewald with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and harassment. She is scheduled to appear for a hearing on that matter on August 19 at District Court.
