PA Turnpike Toll Increase Takes Effect Jan. 5

A new toll increase on the Pennsylvania Turnpike will go into effect Jan. 5, 2020, continuing a 12-year streak of price increases.

The toll hike will apply to cash tolls, E-ZPass and toll by plate.

A trip calculator is available at www.paturnpike.com.

Tolls have increased every year since 2009.

PA Turnpike officials say the annual hikes are needed to meet funding obligations,  maintenance and improvements to the turnpike system.

The turnpike commission says it is legislatively mandated to offer $450 million in funding to PennDOT each year under the terms of Act 44, a state law enacted in 2007
