Croydon Man Pleads Guilty for Stabbing Toddler, Assaulting Girlfriend

A Bristol Township man last week agreed to plead guilty to aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, and related offenses, for a 2021 incident.

Eric Scott, 28 of Croydon agreed to the deal on Friday with Bucks County prosecutors,  court online court records reveal.

Scott, was traveling from Morrisville to Bristol in the early morning hours of  November 13, when his vehicle was observed, pulled off to the side of Rt 13 by Bristol authorities.

According to the criminal complaint, being first on the scene, the township police officer spoke with Scott first and for safety purposes, and due to “Scott’s behavior,” at the scene, he was patted down by the officer. The pat down revealed Scott had a pocket knife in his possession. The knife was turned over to Moors who was not aware of any alleged assault with the weapon when it was turned over to Scott’s mother.

Later that same morning township police were called just before 6 am by the uncle, and he reported the four year old  had three puncture wounds and a scratch on her upper left thigh. The child  was taken to a local medical facility for treatment by her uncle and father, the criminal complaint states.

Further investigation revealed Scott pulled off the side of the road because and engaged in a physical confrontation with his girlfriend, while the altercation was taking place, her daughter was sitting on her lap, as Scott, went to stab his girlfriend with a pocket knife he had, missing her, and  puncturing the child’s leg, leaving three wounds. Police said.

Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley ordered a pre-sentencing report to be completed before penalties were to be imposed, a public safety official told Lower Bucks Source Monday. Scott was jailed in February by District Judge Frank W. Peranteau Sr and has been at Bucks County Correctional Facility since. Scott recently had two unrelated cases adjudicated and one case pending out of Bensalem Township yet to be finalized.

Sources close to the extended family of Scott and girlfriend Janea Wiley said Bucks County Children & Youth, among other human service organizations are involved with the family currently.

Wiley, as reported over the weekend, was sentenced to two years of probation as part of a guilty plea, for stabbing the father she co-parent’s with in the leg earlier this year.
