“Intentionally Set Fire” Injures Croydon Firefighter, Public Safety Officials Ask for Help

An early morning fire in Croydon investigators say was intentionally set and is under investigation in which an attic floor collapsed, causing a Croydon Firefighter to fall 12 feet.
The fire broke out at Bucks County Carpet Company, 801 Cedar Avenue, with fire crews dispatched at 2:27am this morning.
The blaze extended up the exterior wall and into the attic space, fire officials said.
A Captain from Croydon Fire Company was battling the fire in the attic when its floor suddenly collapsed, causing the Captain to fall approx. 12′ to the concrete floor below, said Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin T. Dippolito.
He was transported to Jefferson Torresdale by Bensalem EMS and was treated and released, Dippolito said.
Two apartments on the 2nd floor of the attached building were occupied and had to be evacuated. Both apartments had minor smoke damage, fire officials said.
