LMTPD: Counterfeiters Involved in 2 Incidents, Investigation Ongoing



Lower Makefield Township Police say there were three attempts by counterfeiters to exchange fake $100 earlier this week.
According to a release, police say three transactions were attempted at two businesses within hours of each other on Monday.
Police say the first incident occurred on the 700 block of Stony Hill Rd. at The Giant Food Store.
Giant Loss Prevention reported four unknown males entered the store and split up with two males going to one register purchasing $7.95 worth of items with a counterfeit $100 bill.
The second duo of males attempted a similar purchase, police say, at a different register, but a vigilant store clerk recognized the $100 bill was a counterfeit and the four men fled the scene.
In the second reported incident within the same block Monday evening at Venezia Pizza on the 600 block of Stony Hill Road
Three unknown males, no description provided, entered the eatery and made a purchase for $7.95 with a counterfeit $100 at 5:45 p.m.
Lower Makefield Police say the investigation into the attempted transactions is ongoing, but did no say whether they thought the incidents were connected.
