Bensalem H.S Seniors Can Now Apply for Mayor’s Scholarship

The cost of getting a college degree these days isn’t cheap. High school seniors in Bensalem planning to attend college could get a little support from a scholarship fund set up by the Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, to defray higher education costs.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo Scholarship.
Five students will be awarded $2,000 each by the committee set up to oversee the scholarship fund.
The scholarship is open to all high school seniors living in Bensalem. The deadline for applications is April 27.
DiGirolamo said last year there have been times where six applicants have earned scholarships because of the number and quality of student applications turned in.
Interested applicants can find a copy of the application by clicking here.
Hard copies of the application also may be picked up in the lobby of the Bensalem Township Building, at 2400 Byberry Rd., on Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
According to the scholarship committee, successful applicants will demonstrate qualities of leadership, good citizenship and scholastic ability.
In addition to providing personal and financial information, the application asks students to write a 500-word essay about what they’d like to do after earning their degree.
Applications must be submitted by the deadline to: The Mayor’s Scholarship Committee, 2400 Byberry Rd., Bensalem, PA 19020.
