McCaffrey’s Newtown Holiday Parade

This parade is a huge event that continues to provide a magical experience for the whole community. Hosted each year by the Newtown Business Association, it is a great opportunity for local businesses to get involved and for families to line the streets to watch a spectacular event. In past years over 60 groups have participated, totaling over 1,800 participants. Come out and find a comfy spot to watch this amazing event – Free to Spectators!!

The parade promptly kicks off at 2 p.m. from South State Street at the Stocking Works. It then continues north to Washington Avenue and makes a left turn, then turns right onto Sycamore Street, ending at the corner of Sycamore St. and Durham Rd. Parade announcers will be located at Goodnoe Corner next to the Green Parrot.

Get ready for extra holiday cheer! Come early or stay late for an unforgettable day filled with festive fun!  Enjoy face painting, balloons, treats for our furry friends, hot cocoa, warm drinks, candy, and more before the parade.

And don’t miss your chance to be part of history in the making! Join us after the parade in front of The Green Parrot as we attempt to break the World Record for the largest group doing the Macarena! We need you to make it happen!

Parking Restrictions: Beginning at 11 p.m. Saturday night

• No parking on South State from Penn Street to Washington Avenue (No Exceptions)
• No parking on North Sycamore Street from Washington Ave to Durham Rd
• Anyone parked in the Newtown Borough Municipal parking lots can only exit via Centre Ave and travel west towards Sycamore Street

Road Closures: Beginning at 1:20 p.m. (Subject to change for pedestrian safety)

• South Street from Barclay Street to Greene Street
• Washington Ave from Chancellor Street to Sycamore Street
• North Sycamore Street from Washington Ave to Durham Road
• Jefferson Street – Bridge will be closed
• Washington Ave – Bridge will be closed
• Centre Ave – Bridge will be closed at the start of the parade

If you are attending any events at the Newtown Theatre, North State Street at Jefferson Street will be open for local traffic only.
