Bensalem Residents Walk The Neshaminy Mall One Last Time Before It Closes

Bensalem residents gathered at the Neshaminy Mall for one last walk before the mall closes down on October 31.

The organized event took place from 1-4, and saw residents walk through the mall one last time before it closes down and gets demolished, with AMC, Barnes and Nobles, and Boscov’s left standing.

Bensalem residents such as Marco V. expressed their thoughts on the mall closing down.

“The mall management messed it up. No one wants to pay $90 for a pair of jeans at Woolworth’s clothes when there’s a Target and Walmart down the street.”

Resident David Soza shared with Lower Bucks Source that he’s been going to the mall since he was a kid, and it sucks to see the mall in the current state it’s in. Soza stated to Lower Bucks Source that he’d like whatever new plans are in place for the mall to have it filled up with more stores like it used to be.

“I think the plans were to put some kind of like strip store and everything in like an outside venue kind of like what they did with the Philadelphia Mills and Lake Limerick, which would be great, but I mean, take it back to what it was normally.”

Anther resident, Alejandro C, commented on the potential future of the mall.

“With the three big stores currently here, it’s hard to imagine anything filling in the space. I know they could do apartments like they do up in Oxford Valley Mall, and there’s the medical center that they’ve promised where the Sears is but never got put there.”

Ed D stated that the mall’s closure was a long time coming.

“It’s been time and I’m OK with it. It served its purpose. You know I came here way back from the 1970s, I’ve come back here every once in a while since then not as often. I have a lot of fond memories of some of the stores that have long since gone, Spaceport, Strawberry and Clothe, the diorama. I have a lot of nostalgic memories and that’s why I’m here, for one last walk of the mall.”

Theresa P. also told Lower Bucks Source that she had a lot of memories at the mall, and hates the idea of malls being a thing of the past.

“Where will the kids go, or people who like to shop in person as opposed to online?”

Demolition of the mall where Sears and Macy’s is located is set to happen before the end of the year. The latest update for the future of the mall came from a 90 second clip from Bensalem Township Council President Ed Tokmajian Jr. and Councilman Joe Wenzel Jr, in where they stated there’s still a lot that has to happen, but they intend for the area where the mall stood to be a modern shopping complex. No further updates or plans have been submitted to the Bensalem Township Council as of the writing of this article, however, a sketch plan and 100 some odd page marketing plan was discovered recently by Bensalem Weekly.

The marketing plan which includes leasing information on Paramount Realty’s website, shows a version of a “open air main street” mixed use development.

The proposal, however, has yet to be come before Bensalem and county officials for review and approvals and has been in existence, since June of 2025, officials said.

The mall is set to close on October 31.
