Saturday Morning Bird Walks. October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, & 30th, 7:30am. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the Parking Area. FREE. Program Leader: Birder Extraordinaire, Douglas Filler

 Volunteer Work Day. Saturday, October 2nd, 9am – 12pm. Help us maintain our grounds! Be prepared to get wet and dirty. Bring a refillable water bottle. This event is Rain or Shine.  Register by visiting www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org, or by calling 215-785-1177. 

FREE Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails. Sundays, October 3rd & 17th, 2 – 3pm. Join certified Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, Patricia Merkel, for this leisurely, informative walk covering seasonal topics.  Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at Welcome Kiosk near the Parking Area. Free.   

 Earthship Tours. Saturday, October 16th, 1 – 2:30pm. FREE. The SLNC Earthship will be open to the public today! Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures!  Register by visiting www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or by calling 215-785-1177. 

After School Nature Classes SIX-Week Series for Fall – Offered on Tuesdays, October 5th – November 16th (no session on 11/2/21) from 4pm to 5:30pm! 

Looking for a way to keep your children (5 – 14 years old) active and entertained after their in-person OR virtual school day? Our After School Nature Classes aim to allow kids to socialize in a safe way while exploring the outdoors (and using that pent up energy that’s been building up all day)! 

The program is drop-off only, and is run by SLNC Environmental Educators. Parents are not required to stay on site, but are welcome to hike the Trails on their own during this time.

Friends of SLNC Members: $80.00 for one 6-week session (or $20/class). Non-members: $100.00 (or $25/class) for one 6-week session. Contact Camp Director, Cameron Calista, at 267-880-5024 or v-cecalista@buckscounty.org

Home School Enrichment Series for Fall. Wednesdays, October 6th – November 10th. 10:30am to 12pm OR 1:30pm to 3pm. SLNC’s Homeschool Enrichment Series is an option for families who take a different approach to educating their children. This 6-week program provides an opportunity for children (5 – 14 years old) to get hands-on experience within the STEM disciplines without formal constraints. Each of the lessons are developed with the PA Standard Aligned System (SAS) in mind and ensure that children will excel in all settings.

Bird Seed Sale Pick-up (for orders placed by 10/9). Saturday, October 16th, 10am – 2pm. Bird watching is more fun when you can attract them to your own yard, so fill your feeders with one of our special mixes. Friends of SLNC Members receive a 10% discount on all Bird Seed Orders. Charlie Zahm & Tad Marks Concert – A Tribute to John Denver & the Great 

Outdoors! Saturday, November 6th, 7:30pm. Returning for another awesome concert – Charlie Zahm on vocals & guitar and Tad Marks on fiddle!  

Admission is $15/person. To purchase tickets, please visit www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or call 215-785-1177. Tickets are available in advance only. Concert is scheduled to take place inside the SLNC Visitors’ Center. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless event is canceled by SLNC.

The beautiful Trails at SLNC are open daily, from Sunrise to Sunset. It is free to come out and explore the Trails on your own. 

SLNC Visitors’ Center is open, Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-5pm & Sundays, Noon-5pm.

The Silver Lake Nature Center, where learning comes naturally, is a 264-acre Nature Preserve located in Bristol Township, Bucks County. It is a facility of the Bucks County Department of Parks & Recreation with additional funding and staffing provided by the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center nonprofit organization. SLNC is home to over 40 plant and animal species listed as rare, threatened, or endangered in Pennsylvania. Participation in programs helps protect these species and their habitats. The Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation was established in 1953. The Department is responsible for the acquisition, development, and preservation of open space and regional parks. Police Seek Info on Missing Teen Believed to be in Lower Bucks Area

Police from Plumstead Township Police Department with an assist from Tullytown  Borough Police  are asking for help from the community in attempting to locate a missing  17 year-old .

Ryan  Jaatar Age 17 is  5ft 8in Brown eyes and has not been seen since January 3, 2026, police say.

Jaatar was last seen by his father at their residence in Plumstead Township.

Jaatar’s, according to investigators,  is believed to be in the Levittown/Bristol/Croydon area.

Burlington Bristol Bridge to Close Overnight Beginning Friday for Maintenance Work

The Burlington County Bridge Commission announced that the Burlington Bristol Bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight beginning tomorrow (Friday March 6,) to Tuesday, March 10, weather permitting, for maintenance and repair work.

Floral Design Program Wins Again at Philadelphia Flower Show

In only its second year, Bucks County Community College (BCCC) picked up another medal at the prestigious horticultural expo for its ‘Rooted in Art’ tribute to Stella Elkins Tyler.

BCCC’s floral design program has once again taken home a prize in only its second year participating in the Philadelphia Flower Show. Students, alumni, and instructors earned a bronze medal for “Rooted in Art,” reflecting the College’s origins of being founded on the Newtown estate of artist and educational philanthropist Stella Elkins Tyler. The exhibit features Tyler’s sculpture “Joan of Arc at Orleans,” donated to the College by Carol Tyler, who visited the show with College President & CEO Dr. Patrick M. Jones (Feature Pic).  The College was founded on the Tyler estate in Newtown more than 60 years ago. The exhibit features seven original floral designs, each interpreting the connection between nature, art, and education, alongside six selected student works from the College’s School of Arts and Communication.

A team of 20 students, alumni, and instructors from BCCC’s floral design program helped install “Rooted in Art” at the Philadelphia Flower Show, which reflects the College’s origins of being founded on the Newtown estate of artist and educational philanthropist Stella Elkins Tyler. The exhibit features one of Tyler’s original bronze sculptures, “Joan of Arc at Orleans,” pictured in the background.
