Pedestrian connectivity is set to improve across Falls Township after Supervisors approved a Bucks County Planning Commission proposal to extend the Levittown Trail on Monday night.
The project entails construction of a 10-foot-wide pedestrian path along Mill Creek Parkway to connect to the existing pedestrian trail. In addition, the trail will extend on Levittown Parkway and connect to the existing walkway. The new portions of trail will mirror the current trail on Mill Creek Parkway.
Other enhancements include the addition of crosswalks on Levittown Parkway at Sexton Way, as well as the installation of a rapid flashing beacon on Mill Creek Parkway at Willow Drive. The Mill Creek Parkway/Levittown Parkway traffic signal will be modified to accommodate the new pedestrian improvements.
The 1.13-mile-long trail spans across Bristol Township, Falls Township and Tullytown.
The Bucks County Planning Commission will undertake the upgrades. Once the work is complete, Falls Township will assume ownership and maintenance of the trail, which is consistent with the current trail.
“We will own all of it,” Township Manager John Shepherd said. “We take care of it with our Public Works Department.”
According to the Bucks County Planning Commission, the project is funded through grants. Construction is expected to conclude in spring 2028.
In other business, the Supervisors approved a supplemental appropriation from the unassigned host community fees fund balance for fiscal year 2026 in the amount of $1,174,225 to cover additional roadways for milling and overlay; replacement of a failing culvert and fund higher than anticipated costs of road reconstruction on South Olds Boulevard.
