A “Party house” owner who has been a thorn  in the side of two municipalities has been arrested for fighting with a neighbor by Lower Makefield Police. 

Jean Augustin, of Yardley was arrested by Lower Makefield Township  and charged with fighting, terroristic threats and criminal mischief. 

Augustin, 61  well known to officials in the township and Morrisville for “illegally” running an Airbnb in each community, attacked his neighbors vehicle during an argument  that escalated to an all out physical confrontation police allege. 

According to court documents, Augustin, for no reason cited, initiated the confrontation  on December 28 around 8:30 p.m when he attacked his neighbors vehicle while it was driving past him on Ridge Ave.The neighbor told authorities Augutin was screaming  obscenities too. 

 Police said, court records they observed dents in the vehicle where the complainant alleges Augustin struck it. The complainant also told police Augustin came to his residence and “threatened” him with “physical violence,” police allege in court documents. 

Augustins arrest came days after the township officials sought and received injunctive relief,from the county with regards to property he owns on Ridge Ave. 

County Justice Jeffrey G. Trauger, preliminary order was issued on December 20th calling for Augustin to allow officials to inspect all structures located at the address, remediate any violations noted by inspectors within 30 days of notice, vacate the property immediately if code officials cite him for short-terms, long terms leasing of property, pay costs incurred by the township’s legal actions against him past and present, no renting or leasing of his property until violations, inspections, and permits are issued by Lower Makefield officials. 

Failure to comply with the Order could result in a finding of contempt and fines, penalties, or potential imprisonment, wrote Trauger. 

Lower Makefield officials announced seeking judicial remedy at the Dec 18 Board of Supervisors meeting saying they did so based on the concerns of the community and the township. 

Augustin’s code issues also transcend the municipal boundary into Morrisville and came to the attention of this publication when a number of neighbors complained at council meetings this past summer, dubbing  the Pennsylvania Avenue residence “The Party House.”

Augustin has been cited by Morrisville Code Enforcement multiple times too.   

“Unfortunately we are dealing with someone here who lacks any respect or consideration for the rule of law, rules and regulations of a zoned community, and he is robbing his neighbors of the quiet enjoyment of their property. This is a rogue individual who is illegally operating a hotel and party venue out of his house with no regard for others or for public safety. He is a menace to the community,” said Morrisville Borough Manager recently. 

Augustin is temporarily scheduled for a January preliminary hearing date in Morrisville District Court, however Justice Corryn Kronnagel said during an interview earlier this month she would “recuse” herself from cases involving him due her prior role on council.
