Bucks Lawmakers Announce 2M in Grants from Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program

Pennsylvania State Capitol

Bucks County lawmakers applauded the approval of almost $2 million as part of the Department of Community and Economic Development projects for the Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program.

The credits will help improve and expand the services offered by Habitat for Humanity, Philabundance and Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania in Bristol Township.

State Representatives Tina Davis, John Galloway and Perry Warren along with state Senator Steve Santarsiero announced the state grants on Friday in combined and separate press releases.

“I am proud to join my Bucks colleagues in the House and Senate in supporting state funding for the life saving work being done by Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County, Philabundance, and Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The work these organizations do on behalf of Bucks County residents year-round is essential in the fight against homelessness and food insecurity,” Sen. Santarsiero said.

Galloway added “These funding credits from the state are wise investments in Bucks County’s industries and people. They will help Bucks County’s industries and people grow stronger.”

This is great,” Warren said. “I’ve witnessed firsthand the joy on the faces and in the hearts of families at their Habitat home dedications, and this credit will help families improve their homes and their lives and create healthier and safer communities.”

Davis who also announced a 41 K state grant for to prepare a comprehensive recreation, park, open space and greenway plan said of the grants “I’m glad to see the commonwealth invest in industry and community with these tax credits. The funding will help Bucks County to continue to grow as an industry leader as well as help our community take care of the less fortunate among us in their time of need. These investments in Bristol Township will reap dividends for years to come.”

NAP is an incentive program that provides tax credits to businesses or private companies investing in rehabilitating, expanding or improving buildings or land. Tax credits equal 25% of the amount invested, up to $500,000 per project, state officials said.

Davis said of the parks and open space grant that a report would be written and available to the public in the future.

The DCNR Grant comes from the Bureau of Recreation and Conservation that assists local governments, recreation and conservation organizations with funding for projects related to conservation, parks and recreation, including conservation of open space, river conservation and access, and the planning, acquisition and development of public parks, officials said.
