PSP: March Mayhem on the Highways, Freightliner Crashes and More!

State Police on Patrol in Levittown Credit: Jeff Bohen, Lower Bucks Source

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating numerous March accidents, including single vehicle and  freightliner crashes.

3/1/26
This crash occurred at approximately 4:24 a.m., when the driver of a 2008 Toyota Camry lost control on a right hand curve on 1-95 North in Bensalem Township. The driver struck a guide rail and partially blocked the left lane before being towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

The driver of a 2001 Infiniti EX35 escaped injury in a crash with a 2020 Freightliner Conventional on I-295W in Middletown Township at approximately 12:03 p.m. However, he was charged for violating PA Statute 75 § 3309(1) for an unsafe lane change. Penndel-Middletown EMS arrived on scene to evaluate and treat a suspected minor injury to the Freightliner driver, who refused transport. This crash occurred as the Freightliner, in the left lane, hit its brakes as the Infiniti, in the right lane, made an unsafe lane change to the left. The improper operation of the Infiniti caused the Freightliner to lose control, spin, hit the cable wires/posts on the left side of the roadway, and roll over on its left side in the left lane, sustaining moderate damage. The Infiniti proceeded west on I295. The truck was inoperable and subsequently towed from the scene. PennDOT was notified of the cable wire/post damage.

3/9/26
A Philadelphia man was found passed out at the wheel with a passenger in tow at an accident scene on Route 1 South at the Toll Bridge Plaza in Morrisville Borough. The Sonata was in the far right toll booth lane when the accident occurred at approximately 12:39 a.m. At this time, it was determined that the driver of a 2021 Hyundai Sonata overdosed on drugs and passed out causing the crash. This then caused the Sonata to scrape and then hit a concrete traffic barrier erected on the right side of the roadway before it came to a stop. The driver was charged for DUI. It was reported the passenger was not injured and the driver was transported to Jefferson Bucks by Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad for a suspected minor injury.

A 2013 Nissan Altima and a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia crashed on I-95 South in Bensalem Township at approximately 11:30 p.m. The Altima left its lane, hit the median, crossed back into traffic, struck the Cascadia, and blocked the middle and right lanes while the Cascadia stopped on the left shoulder. No injuries were reported.

The crash on I-95 south in Bensalem Township at approximately 7:18 p.m. involved a Pontiac G6 and a Tesla Y. This crash occurred as both vehicles traveled in the center lane. Traffic ahead slowed and stopped in the center lane due to road debris (large stuffed toy animals), prompting the Tesla driver to decelerate and stop behind another motorist. However, the Pontiac driver failed to decelerate appropriately and struck the Tesla’s rear end, blocking the center lane. The Pontiac driver and passenger were transported by Bensalem EMS to Jefferson-Torresdale with unknown injuries.

3/27/26
This one-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 8:37 a.m. as a 2018 Honda Accord traveled south in the middle lane of I-95 in Bensalem Township. The Accord failed to maintain its lane of travel, moving to the right of the roadway and then to the left. The vehicle hit concrete barriers on both sides of the road, suffering heavy front and rear damage. It was non-operable and had to be towed. No injuries were reported.

The intersection of Hulmeville and Comley Avenues in Langhorne Manor was the scene of a two-vehicle accident at approximately 4:22 p.m. A 2020 Ford Edge was on Comley Ave., stopping at a stop sign before proceeding through the intersection when a 2011 Chevrolet Impala traveling north on Hulmeville Ave., through the intersection, struck the rear of the Ford. The Impala did not have a stop sign. The impact caused the Ford to spin approximately 90 degrees to the right and struck a guide rail coming to a stop and blocking the right lane. The Impala came to a stop on the right side of the roadway. No injuries were reported on the scene. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
