Bensalem Township Council approved the disbursement of HUD Community Block Grant Program funds for 2026 community projects.
HUD Block Grant funds must be dedicated to projects that meet three strict national objectives: Urgent Community Need; Benefitting Low and Moderate Income Individuals; Blight Elimination;
The township expects to receive over $450,000 of funds officials said, of which $312,000 is being dedicated to ADA curb cut upgrades.
In the last five years alone, the township completed 50 ramps in 2022, 58 ramps in the second half of 2022, 49 ramps in 2023, 40 in 2024, and 27 in 2025,” Solicitor Joe Pizzo, said.
Ramps have been installed in various residential locations throughout the township, Pizzo said.
The remainder of the funds will be invested as follows:
-$40,000 towards the Family Support Services at the Levittown Emergency Shelter
-$70,000 for Program Administration
-$10,000 for Housing Rehabilitation
-$20,000 for the Senior Center Interior upgrades
Council approved the disbursements unanimously.
