PennDOT announced that Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) repair will occur on state highways including I-95 in Bucks and Philadelphia.
Weather permitting, drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a right lane closure will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Lincoln Highway) between the Pennsylvania Avenue and the Pine Groove Road interchanges in Falls Township and Morrisville Borough.
- Wednesday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a right lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Longshore Avenue underpass and the Cottman Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia.
Automated incident detection software, which is an integral part of ITS, for example flags collisions instantly, reducing secondary highway crash patterns and cutting local accident rates by up to 25%.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.
The work is part of a $5.9 million project to repair or replace Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) across the five-county Philadelphia region.
