PennDOT announced overhead bridge construction will close a section of Tacony Street and Bridge Street in Northeast Philadelphia.
Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Sunday, July 26, through Wednesday, July 29, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m tthe following morning, Tacony Street will be closed and detoured between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street. During the closure, northbound Tacony Street motorists will be directed to use Aramingo/Harbison Avenue and turn right onto Bridge Street to access Tacony Street. Southbound motorists will be directed to turn right onto Bridge Street and turn left onto Aramingo/Harbison Avenue to access Tacony Street.
- Wednesday, July 29, through Friday, August 14, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m the following morning, Bridge Street will be closed and detoured weeknights between James Street and Tacony Street. During the closure, westbound Bridge Street motorists will be directed to turn left onto Tacony Street and turn right onto Aramingo Avenue to access Bridge Street. Eastbound Bridge Street motorists will be directed to turn right onto Aramingo Avenue, turn left onto Orthodox Street, turn left onto Pearce Street, turn left onto Lefevere Street, and turn right onto Tacony Street to access Bridge Street.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area or along the detour routes because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
