Sometimes, first responders will tell you that serendipity can play a significant role when it comes to emergency services responses.
Homeowners in the Cobalt Ridge section of Middletown Township benefitted from a lucky break, William Penn Fire Company officials said Sunday, because—as circumstance would have it—Levittown Fire Co. No. 2 had just finished a call and were within four minutes travel time to last night’s fire on the 30 block of Crestwood Road.
Fire crews were dispatched at 7:56 p.m. with “13’s” arriving at 8 p.m,. according to emergency services personnel.
There could have been far more fire damage, Deputy Fire Chief Bill Smith said, if “Lev 2” wasn’t coming back from that other call.
The 2nd floor fire that took form in the bedroom was knocked down quickly as Levittown Fire Co # 2 was able to get on scene.
Smith said the residents were home but were able to escape without injury.
The cause of the fire, Smith said, remains under investigation.
Third District was held on scene shortly before being released, fire officials said.
