Overnight Fire Shutters Waste Conversion Facility

An overnight fire at a  Morrisville’s Ecoremedy conversion facility caused it to cease operations officials said.

According to fire officials, the fire was reported shortly after midnight at the plant early Monday.

Fire crews made a forcible entry into the building to fight to the blaze.

A spokesperson for Ecoremedy said the blaze took place in a storage area of the plant.

Operations at the plant had ceased for the weekend the spokesperson said “with plant operations put on hold for the time being.”

The building did suffer significant damages, officials said, but no one was reported injured.

“Ecoremedy is working with the Morrisville Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire.”

Operations at the plant were recently brought up at the borough council meeting by a resident with health related concerns.

Ecoremedy constructed its state-of-the art sludge conversion facility in summer 2019 as a solution for landfilling biosolids from the Morrisville Municipal Authority. Ecoremedy uses its Fluid Lift Gasification™ process to reduce the biosolids’ volume by up to 96 percent, which significantly reduces the costs and potential environmental impacts of landfill disposal while simultaneously recovering energy resources.
