The Bensalem Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) has been awarded a Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Municipal Assistance Program (MAP) Grant for $47,510.00
MAP’s goal is to help local governments plan for and effectively implement a variety of services and improvements that support residents and strengthen communities.
The funds will be used for BDEC to develop a strategic economic revitalization plan which will address aging commercial corridors, underutilized waterfront areas, stalled redevelopment efforts, and the need for a unified planning framework, according to the DCED.
Robert Norkus, the Executive Director of the BDEC went before Council seeking support for a state grant application in April focused on economic revitalization.
It remains unclear as of publication time, if this was the grant he sought Council’s support for.
Norkus on Friday declined to comment for this story responding to the request with “not yet.”
