A 55 year-old Kissimmee, Florida man is facing felony charges following a law enforcement investigation into online solicitation involving a purported minor, according to court documents filed by Middletown Township Police.
According to the affidavit, the investigation began on August 29, 2025, when the suspect David Cruz Cancel initiated contact on the social media application MOCO with an account he believed belonged to a 13-year-old female. Investigators allege Cruz Cancel initiated sexually explicit communications and transmitted explicit media shortly after opening the conversation.
The affidavit states interactions subsequently moved to the messaging application Kik, where Cruz Cancel allegedly continued explicit discussions, requested explicit images, and proposed an in-person meeting despite the account user reiterating her age. Additional explicit communications were recorded on September 2, 2025.
On July 23, 2026, special agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed a search warrant at Cruz Cancel’s residence. During an interview with federal agents, the suspect confirmed his identity and ownership of the MOCO and Kik accounts.
When confronted with the messaging logs, according to court records, Cruz Cancel acknowledged the explicit communications and media transmissions while stating he did not intend to meet in person. Authorities noted that Cruz Cancel expressed regret and accepted responsibility for his actions during the interview.
Cruz Cancel is charged with four separate sexual felonies: contact/communication with a minor for sexual abuse; unlawful contact with a minor involving obscene materials; criminal attempt to photograph/film a child sex act; and distribution of explicit scxual material to a minor. He was also charged with a related-nonsexual felony of criminal use of communication facility.
Cruz Cancel was arraigned on Sept. 8 2026, by Magisterial District Judge Michael W. Petrucci. His bail was set at $500,000 and posted bail the following day.
Cruz Cancel is due back in court on October 22. He is represented by Young, Marr, Mallis & Associates LLC, out of Bensalem, according to online records.
