Cops: Bank Robber Caught, Confesses

Bensalem Township Police announced Tuesday morning they caught an alleged bank robber, who subsequently confessed to the crime.

According to Police, the robbery took place at the Wells Fargo Bank on the 2300 block of Street Road, to a report of a hold up alarm.

Employees told police, that a black man, wearing all black with dreadlocks handed a bank teller a note demanding $10,000 in 100 dollar bills. The alleged robber, said he had a bomb with him.  The teller gave the would be thief  an undetermined amount of money and he then fled the scene.

Bensalem Police, through video surveillance, determined the suspect fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Impala and the vehicle was owned by Kennan Coats.

Bensalem Detectives were able to obtain a warrant to seize the vehicle involved in the bank robbery, a statement reads.

Bensalem Police and officers from the BucksMont Safe Streets Task Force found the vehicle parked on in he 1500 block of N. Broad Street in Philadelphia.  The owner of the vehicle, Keenan Coats, was observed walking to his vehicle and was detained with the assistance of Philadelphia Police.  Coats was transported to the Bensalem Township Police Department where he confessed to robbing the Wells Fargo Bank in Bensalem on Saturday.

Coats was charged with three counts of robbery, terroristic threats  and related offenses.

He arraigned by District Justice Gallagher and sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10% of $300,000 bail.

Police said no further information will be released and did not comment on whether or not, Coats actually had a explosive device with him.

He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on February 15.
