Six years ago, “the biggest crowds ever” swarmed Bristol Borough to get a gander at the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales.

At Monday night’s Council meeting, President of Raising The Bar, Bill Pezza, announced a return engagement is only days away.

Sunday May 22, Pezza said, the  Clydesdales. will return, as he got the call from officials of Budweiser, namely Matt Cussano, who helped organize the visit by the world famous six horse hitch in 2016

“It was the largest turnout of people ever” for an event in Bristol he said.

Pezza said the horses would begin at the Simon & Schuster building on Radcliffe Street come down Farragut Avenue to Pond Street, turn onto Mill Street, and then to the Bristol Riverfront where the horses would be on display.

The specifics and logistics for the return of the Clydesdales. still need to be worked out, officials said as there is a faith based event scheduled to take place on the waterfront Council approved that day.

Pezza noted Bristol has become a hot spot for events and calls come in frequently, in a humble brag.

“People know where Bristol is and they’re calling us,” he said.

“First introduced in 1933, after the repeal of Prohibition, the Clydesdales have served as living symbols of not just Budweiser, but also the unconquerable American spirit,” according to Budwiser.

In related event news, Pezza also highlighted the Nashville on Mill Street event happening on May 14.

From 12 pm to 2 pm there will be live music on the sidewalk in front of: The King George, The Mill St Cantina, Dad’s Hat, Hops and Hardware, Naked Brewery and Itri Wood Fire Pizza.

From 2 pm to 4 pm, the 100 block of Wood Street will be closed and the shared courtyard of Calm Waters Coffee and Maestro’s will be used to hold a free outdoor concert with a stage to erected for the show.

We wanted to bring music to the street, Pezza said and no streets will have to be closed down or buses rerouted, due to the live music.

We expect it to be a festive atmosphere, he said, noting  the response about the street music event has been very favorable.
