Spirit of Community Shines Bright for School Children

In a matter of days representatives from Bristol Borough School District, council, fire department, police department, high school volunteers, and so many others came together to celebrate the school year ending for the 600 plus students of Snyder-Girotti Elementary School.

Branded as “Bristol Community Day” the get together, gave kids a day to remember on the last day of school Monday on the field at Buckley Street and Beaver Dam Road.

The three- hour fun fest, which amazingly cost just under $3000.00 to put on, showcased not only rides, fun, food, and community connection. Community Day showcased the spirit of school and council officials working together to celebrate the borough’s children after coming back to schoolย  ย academic year that challenging for in so many ways.

The contributors were many, and donations of goods and services were plentiful, officials said which we’ll have the full listing of later today.

Borough Recreation Director Mike Poploskie, one part of the team that brought community day to fruition heaped tons of credit in northward Councilman Bryan Johnson’s way.

Pointing to Johnson, he said, “this doesn’t happen without his effort and calls.”

Johnson not one for accolades, smiled and said everyone played a major part in putting community day together.ย  Johnson said he had to do some last minute juggling when an expected participant had to pull out, which led water slides becoming part of the event.

Students confirmed the water slides was the way to go, as the lines to get on them went 10 deep.

Bristol High School students volunteered to help out keepingย  the mood of the community front and center.

Bristol Councilwoman Lorraine Cullen, summed up the event succinctly before Monday nights council meeting.

This was a great event for Bristol and the students of Snyder-Girotti. It was just a fantastic day, she said.
