Borough Police Continue Engagement Effort with Area Children

In an effort to continue engaging the borough’s children through positive events Bristol Borough Police are holding events running into November for area children. 

The police department has partnered up with Papa’s Pretzels, 302 Mill Street. On-duty officers who see kids contributing something positive to the community will be given a card that can be traded in for a treat at the specialty pretzel shop, Chief of Police Joe Moors said. 

A second community building effort by Borough Police and back by demand is the police trading card contest. 

The initiative runs from October 13 to November 30 with announcements and information placed in the Police Department, Snyder-Girotti Elementary School, Bristol Junior-Senior High School, the St. Mark School and Grundy Library, Moors said. 

Instruction and rules are on the 8 foot x by 4 foot banners hung up at the locations noted above. 

There will be three prizes given at the end of the contest, one of which is an X-Box gaming system, the Chief said. 

A third event-the Bristol Borough Police Nerf Wars event set to take place at the soccer field on Otter Street.

The contest was originally scheduled for last Sunday but due to various scheduling challenges was temporarily postponed to a later as yet determined date, Moors said. 

When taking over as the leader of the Police Department, Moors said one of the things he was going to do was to commit departmental resources for reach-out efforts to the Borough’s children. 

The borough’s first National Night Out event, First Responder events, a Community Day, Ice Cream with Cops, Police Night at the St Ann Carnival which was already a staple event, have all been part of the reach out effort.

I want the kids to know the officers working the beat, he said, I want them to know that at any time they have a question or need help with something, we’re there for them, Moors said recently.
