The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Wednesday that weekday traffic stoppages will begin next Monday on Interstate 295 in Middletown Township, weather permitting.
PennDOT is cautioning motorists of the following travel restriction:
East and west bound I-295 between the U.S. 1 and Interstate 276 ( Pennsylvania Turnpike) interchanges from Monday, October 23rd through November 20, may have a 15 minute traffic stoppage between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.. This is due to blasting operations at a private site near the Route 213 (Maple Avenue) overpass.
PennDOT advises drivers to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur when the traffic stoppages are in place.
Maine Drilling and Blasting will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit, PennDOT said.
