The Bucks County District Attorney’s office through an investigation led by county detectives arrested Falls Township’s public works director, Jason Richard Lawson, 52, of Fairless Hills, charging him with five felony-related theft counts, and tampering with public records, a misdemeanor.

District Judge Christopher E. O’Neill arraigned Lawson at 2:20 p.m., scheduled a preliminary hearing for 1:00 pm August 19 and setting unsecured bail.  The crimes, Lawson is alleged to have committed, occurred in March of 2019, according to court records.

Lawson was put on administrative leave May 3,  township officials said. A statement provided to Lower Bucks Source from Falls officials reads as follows:

Falls Township officials have been cooperating with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office since allegations of potential wrongdoing were brought to our attention in May of this year. Public Works Director Jason Lawson was placed on administrative leave on May 3, 2024 while the investigation was carried out. Falls Township will continue to cooperate with the District Attorney’s Office in resolving this matter. As Mr. Lawson is an employee of Falls Township, we can provide no further comment on this personnel matter.

Lawson started working for Falls Township in 2016, according to township documents.

Falls officials over the last 18 months have been scrutinized by the FBI, Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police, and Bucks County Detectives, sources have been telling Lower Bucks Source.

Falls Township PBA President George Thomas submitted an op-ed to our Voice of the People section accusing the Board of Supervisors of meddling in police affairs. Thomas also took the unusual step of filing a citizens criminal complaint against the board last October.
