Levittown Man Charged for Second Attack of Victim in 55 Days

Credit: Falls Twp Police

A Levittown man with open domestic violence case from June was charged in another, where he allegedly strangled the victim this weekend.

An officer from Falls Township Police was dispatched on Sunday, August 25, at approximately 8 a.m. for a well-being check at Pennsbury Woods Apartments on New Falls Road in Levittown.ย  The police were informed that the call was transferred from Robbinsville, New Jersey by Bucks County Radio (BCR). During the drive to work, the victim reported her boyfriend beat her up. She was afraid he would return to their apartment, police said.

Upon arrival at the complex, Falls Twp. police contacted Robbinsville police and Sgt. Haugh advised them of a roaming domestic which occurred in Falls Twp.ย  The victim said her boyfriend, 43-year-old Anthony Ortiz, attacked her while driving and punched, slapped, stabbed her multiple times with his vape pen, choked her and beat her. The woman stated in her police report that Ortiz had threatened to kill her that day, and that should she report the incident to anyone else, he would kill her as well. In addition, Ortiz stole her phone and house keys before fleeing in a 2021 White Nissan Sentra with Pennsylvania tags, according to the probable cause.

As bruising was already evident, Robbinsville’s Rescue Squad evaluated the victim and transported her to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. At the hospital, Robbinsville officers observed extensive bruising on the victim’s left side. Her left arm, thigh, and stomach were heavily bruised. Strangulation marks were visible on her throat, according to authorities.

According to the victim, the assault began early in the morning. Upon contacting her, Ortiz asked to talk to her. Getting in the car with Ortiz, she was driven to an area she had never been to before. As soon as Ortiz stopped, he began a verbal argument in which he accused her of infidelity. When she denied the allegations, he repeatedly hit her in the thigh with the vape pen. When she attempted to exit the vehicle, Ortiz grabbed her hair and pulled her back inside. When she tried again, Ortiz grabbed her by the throat, making it difficult for her to breathe. A threat was made to kill her if she told anyone. Besides bite marks on her hand from Ortiz, the victim had bruises on her thigh, arm, and stomach consistent with being in the passenger seat and being hit by someone in the driver’s seat. Approximately two hours later, Ortiz took the victim back to her apartment and applied ice to her injuries to reduce swelling and bruising. She was told they would go to work as normal, act like nothing happened, and if she said anything, he would kill her. When they left for work, he again accused her of cheating. As she drove, he slapped her and grabbed the steering wheel, causing a seriously dangerous risk for of causing anย accident. She said that Ortiz attempted to take her directly to her department, despite the fact that they worked in different departments. She saw an opportunity to flee and ran to the first open office, asking for help while Ortiz fled the building, alleged in the affidavit.

In June, Ortiz was charged with aggravated assault in a previous domestic case. He was charged for attacking the victim and her son who came to her defense.

He posted 10% of a $10,000 bail and was awaiting a preliminary hearing on September 11.

Ortiz was taken into custody, arraigned on felony charges of strangulation, aggravated assault and several related misdemeanor charges by Judge Terrence Hughes. His bail was set for 10% of $200,000 and unable to post bail, he was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility (BCCF). His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for September 10.ย  He has no attorney of record for either case, according to court papers, current;y listed
