PennDOT announced roadway reconstruction will close Rising Sun Avenue in Philadelphia under a $100.6 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and Nicetown neighborhood in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Tuesday, August 27, from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning, periodic lane closures are planned in both directions on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Henry Avenue and I-76 for bridge construction. The ramp from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound I-76 will also close at this time. Motorists will detour east on I-76, exit at Montgomery Avenue, then take the ramp to westbound I-76.
- Wednesday, August 28, from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning, Rising Sun Avenue will be closed at the U.S. 1 Intersection for road reconstruction. Northbound motorists will detour west on Rockland Street, north on Front Street, then east on Albanus Street. Southbound motorists will detour east on Albanus Street, south on C Street, then west on Ruscomb Street.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
