If you are traveling around Philadelphia, this weekend and next week, restrictions with different dates and time are set for areas of the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76).
PennDOT announced paving, concrete patching, and guiderail installation will occur this weekend and at night next week on Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Philadelphia, under a $36.8 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Saturday, September 14, from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m. the following evening, a left lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the I-676 (Vine Street Expressway) and Spring Garden Street interchanges for concrete pavement patching.
- Sunday, September 15, through Friday, September 20, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of eastbound and westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the Montgomery Drive and U.S. 1 South (City Avenue) interchanges for paving and guiderail installation.
- Monday, September 16, and Tuesday, September 17, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the first ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to U.S. 1 South (City Avenue/Exit 339) will be closed for paving. Motorists will be directed to continue on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) and use the next exit to access U.S. 1 South (City Avenue/Exit 339).
- Monday, September 16, and Tuesday, September 17, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will be closed for paving. Motorists will be directed to use eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) and exit at Montgomery Drive to access the ramp to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway).
- Monday, September 16, through Friday, September 20, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of eastbound and westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the Spring Garden Street and 30th Street Station interchanges for concrete pavement patching.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
