Applications Being Accepted for 2025 Environmental Education Grants

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is now accepting applications for its 2025 Environmental Education Grants Program through mid-November.

Each year, Pennsylvania invests in its schools, colleges and universities, county conservation districts, nonprofit organizations and businesses to improve environmental literacy among youth and adults.

DEP’s Environmental Education Grants Program welcomes applications for the development of innovative formal and non-formal environmental education projects that: 1) Address grant program priorities; 2) Provide opportunities to expand the public’s understanding of Pennsylvania’s environmental issues; and 3) Develop skills required to make informed decisions and take responsible action on behalf of the environment.

The application process is now open and the deadline for completed applications is November 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Incomplete applications and/or those submitted prior to the opening date or after the deadline will not be considered.

Eligible applicants include schools, colleges, nonprofit community and environmental organizations, county conservation districts, and businesses. Projects with a local focus may receive up to $5,000 and regional or statewide initiatives may receive up to $30,000. Projects that engage students and teachers from at least 60 Pennsylvania counties at three levels – local, state and national – may be awarded up to $65,000, said state Representative Joe Hogan.

A free webinar about the program will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration for the webinar is required by Monday, Sept. 30.

BCCC Seeks Public Input on Nursing Program

Bucks County Community College (BCCC) invites public input as it seeks to continue accreditation for its Associate Degree Nursing Program.

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) will be visiting the Newtown Campus Tuesday – Thursday, March 24 – 26, as part of the accreditation process.

The visit includes a forum from 2 – 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 in Founders Hall Room 140, where the public is invited to share comments about the two-year program that prepares students to become registered nurses.
