A motive for the murder -death by suicide shooting incident last week at a Lower Makefield Apartment complex has yet to be determined, Police said Friday.

Lower Makefield authorities with SWAT and multiple surrounding police agencies responded to a report of a shooting last Friday around 12:30 p.m.

A man in his early 30s was found dead in a walkway with gun shot wounds to his face and body at the The Edge at Yardley Apartments on Cornerstone Drive off of Township Line Road , Lower Makefield Police Chief Kenneth D. Coluzzi said.

Law enforcement sources with knowledge of the shooting said SWAT breached the apartment of shooter Brian Moyer, 59, by breaking the windows to his apartment after several hours of attempting to communicate him.

Moyer, a Lower Makefield resident was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a weapon in his hand, police said.

“This was truly a horrible incident resulting in the death of an innocent young man. The victim did nothing to provoke the shooter. The shooter’s motive remains unknown, however all indications from witnesses and neighbors indicate mental health issues,” Coluzzi said.

Both lived in the apartment complex on separate levels but it is not known whether the two men had any altercations or arguments in the past.

Detectives along with ATF are looking into the murder weapon. Although the decedent’s name may already be public, Police are withholding his name out of respect for his family, said Coluzzi
