Morrisville Borough Police are hoping someone will step forward to explain why a female pitbull was left abandoned at Williamson Park Sunday night tied to playground equipment and perhaps get to speak with the pet’s owner for a few minutes.
Police say they received a report of a dog left in the park around 9:45 p.m. Sunday night.
The brindle colored female pitbull was tied with a pink leash. She also had on a pink “princess” collar, police say. Borough officers were able to safely secure the dog into a patrol vehicle after detaching it from the playground equipment, Cpl Lew Halas said.

The pitbull was subsequently transported to the Women’s Humane Society located at 3839 Richlieu Rd. in Bensalem.
For reason known to only the suspects involved, the borough has been the unfortunate site for animal cruelty related incidents recently despite it having a beautiful dog park supported by hundreds if not thousands of friends to canines.
We are still actively investigating to identify the person responsible for dumping this dog and reviewing CCTV footage from the area, Halas said on Wednesday morning.
We ask anyone that has any information on this case to please call the Morrisville Police at 215-295-8112. If you wish to remain anonymous, click here to submit an anonymous tip. Tips can also be submitted to the investigating officer, Officer Williamson at M.Williamson@Morrisvillepolice.org, Halas said.
