A sunny, cold Saturday welcomed locals braving the frosty conditions to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new observation deck at Silver Lake Nature Center (SLNC).
On-hand to celebrate with Director -Naturalist PattiAnn Cutter, were Commissioner Diane Marseglia, Angie Nagle, Executive Director of the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, representatives of the county, Friends of SLNC and members of the community.
Commissioner Marseglia, who did the ribbon-cutting honors, said the deck is a testament to the energy and support of the Friends of SLNC, the architect, the engineer and the community. It was a pleasure to be here, she said, thanking everyone involved.
Besides thanking everyone for their dedication and support, Cutter also thanked the commissioners for approving Athena Contracting LLC, of Philadelphia to do the reconstruction.
Construction began in August 2024, on the newly installed platform and was re-opened Saturday, at approximately 9:35 a.m.

In addition, Nagel thanked everyone who helped make the idea of reconstructing the deck 2 years ago become a reality and the ribbon-cutting ceremony that officially opened the new observation deck.
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, many returned to the center to continue discussing the deck, SLNC, and other topics, while others attended took part in the monthly volunteer led clean up.
The long-awaited reopening of the platform was a early holiday gift for Cutter, SLNC and the community that frequents Silver Lake trails and park.
